The tour starts off with a first visit to Aptera. During this photo stop right next to the fortress from the top of the hill one may enjoy a unique view to the entire bay of Souda and part of the Apokoronas area (dont forget your photo-camera!).

Then on to the peninsula of Akrotiri, situated at the northwest side of the Souda bay. A visit to the monastery of Agia Triada is a “must”. Not only because the Greek orthodox religion plays such an important role in Greece but also because this monastery is most impressive, has an interesting history and is widely recognized by the production of Agia Triadas fine olive oil and their own delicious wine.

While heading for the town of Chania a stop will be made to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the entire town and valley of Chania from the Profitis Ilias hill. Here the plain stone graves of Eleftherios and Sophocles Venizelos are located. The tiny church at the park is very popular amongst locals for weddings and baptism.

And last but definitely not least is time at leisure in Chania, by far the most picturesque town in Crete. You will be dropped off in front of the famous Municipality (covered) market – have a look inside! or close by in the center of the town, ready to start your own nice walk to get to know the interesting sites, like the leather street, the Metropolitan Greek Orthodox Church, the Venetian harbor for a stroll along the waterfront and the heart of the Old Town with the nicest narrow streets lined with old houses now in use as tiny shops and restaurants.
