You’ll have a panoramic tour through the very modern city of Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey with history dating back to the 3rd century BC. The most famous sights are The Oriental Tower Clock built in 1901 but elaborated later, in Ottoman style; the Elevator, best place for a panoramic city view and holiday album moment; Konak Square and its waterfront Kordon. We enter Archaeological Museum which houses many artifacts found in the Agora – a superb collection of antiquities including the statues of Poseidon and Demeter. Tour the Agora of Smyrna that serves as the main draw card – a Roman square where Colonnades of tall stone Corinthian columns can still be found standing. See its rectangular form and spacious inner court. Learn about the first floor that was used for trading and the second floor for government meetings and gatherings. Walk on Kemeralti where we see the famous Kizlaragasi Han (Inn)- a beautiful example of 18th C Ottoman architecture. Some free time for shopping. Drive back to Port.
