After an approximate 30 minutes drive we arrive at Degirmen Park, a beautiful landscape mark which houses a farm, a mini animal-farm, a small lake, a horse hippodrome, few restaurants, a space dedicated to the local women selling different sorts of handicrafts, and another special space with numberless variety of organic products.
Olive Oil Museum: this exhibition gallery is formed to reflect the connection of olive and olive oil culture of the land we live with the olive’s Anatolian and Mediterranean history; to leave as heritage sharing and making sense to the future. Oleatrium means the great hall where olives are exhibited. We are entering a time tunnel formed of totally 11 parts. This journey starts 2500 years ago with the Ion age and ends with the first electrical Stone mill and pumping pressed system used 100 years ago is not preferred nowadays except by curious people. This project’s aim and realized shape has different from other examples of exhibition galleries and museums of this kind in our country and abroad, a flavour of time travel. It is shown with real dimensions and almost real animations, how olive and olive oil was produced in history’s known terms and why it was used. Nowadays people and the next generation will not only have a visual knowledge about how olive oil was produced and the mechanical system which was used, but also they will see the field and aims of olive oil used except food, from the first terms it was produced.
Caferli Village is an enchanting town in the heights of Davutlar hills, easily missed by tourists. The village was originally a small number community of 25 people, now little bit over 100 people, but is rightfully voted as one of the most beautiful village in the area. Only few years ago a local committee had the idea to transform the village into what it is today, saving the community from certain doom through tourism. Now, the village started to be known as a charming rainbow of brightly colored houses, painted walls and stairs, small intimate pensions, for its markets stocked with local products and for breathtaking panoramic views.
If there was a prize for the most interesting thing to do in a Turkish town that has somehow managed to miss out on big-time tourism, it would probably have to be the local market. Mainly this is a market for locals who come here to shop for clothes, kitchen items or other household necessities, fresh seasonal vegetables, dry vegetables, cheese, and fruits. If you are lucky, you may even find some old Ottoman items, vintage or antique bargains. The cherry on the cake is to browse the stalls to experience the local culture and interact with locals.
During the tour you’ll have free time for lunch on own expenses, en-route and based on time permit. Also, if there will be time for some souvenir hunting (your guide can help and give advice if wanted) before we return to the Port.
