Ephesus is considered one of the great outdoor museums of Turkey. Our days, one can see the extensive ruins including the Odeon, State Agora, the Prytaneion, Domitian Square, Hercules Gate, the Fountain of Trajan-one of the finest monuments in Ephesus, Temple of Hadrian- one of the best preserved and most beautiful structures on Curetes Street, Celsius Library-was the third largest library with the capacity of 12,000 scrolls, the Gymnasium, the Grand Theatre-most magnificent structure in Ephesus, the Arcadian Way..and much more monuments remained preserved till our days, constantly reminding us the great history of this ancient city. Furthermore Ephesus has been a religious center of the early Christianity – Apostol Paul and Apostol John stayed and preached in this sacred city! From here we drive up to the pretty old Turkish-Orthodox Sirince Village located on the top of a mountain, where anyone will enjoy the impressive wine yards, peach trees, olive groves, tangerine and fig lands and the rocky cliffs covered with pine trees. The village has synthesis of Turk-Greek culture. One of the best attractions here is the wine shops. Here you find a very unique type of wine – made from different kind of fruits. Try its taste in small cafés or in the former municipal school restored. There is also a nicely restored Orthodox church and mosques. You will be welcomed by the local women on the narrow streets with cobble stone pavements, and selling handcrafts of all kinds, olive oil and other organic products. Only few houses keep the same typical old Greek house style – inside the layout is very much Turkish though. After the tour, drive back to Kusadasi Port.
